Just wondering, has anyone managed to kill all the Charr (or where they Grawl, can't remember) near the back? I tried doing it with only me (E/N) and a R/E and we got owned.
And if so, is there anything back there?

You can kill them all if you lure them back to where the resurrecting monk is. As for the charr at the very back and charr at that flaming thingy... thats another matter heh.
-They drop quite some stuff.

I never fought the Charr above the wall, but I did make it to their outlying base undetected.

It's impossible to take on the four champions with the hoards back there. The ones that you can lure to the shrine, sure, but those champions are there for a reason.
There would be no game after you killed them >.>; They're the ones that cause the Searing methinks...

I killed 2 of the champions:
W/Mo 7
Mo/El 7
Got some pretty good drops too. A mesmer rune and an upgrade comp. I think.

A level 8 Warrior/Elementalist and I (level 8 Mesmer / Warrior) tried it for a couple of hours the other day. Very challenging but was fun. We cleared out about just all of the zone besides the stuff at the spell circle. Got INCREDIBLY close to taking out one boss multiple times, but another boss which happens to be a shaman kept transfusing health to heal him at the last second. And of course, they have a bunch of normal charr (level 8, as opposed to the bosses which are level 10) wandering around the circle that jump in to help them so we were trying to clear those out first . . . then the server crashed. Ah well.

My brother and I (W/R6 and E/N7) managed to clear out the bowl and almost all the remaining creatures until the game CTD for me...we had all the hard stuff done though.
Doesn't seem like there's anything to be had except drops (most of the great ones are very rare). We even messed around opening all the chests too.
My brother and a friend went back today and actually cleared the entire zone, but found nothing of interest (again except drops, and they didn't get any "great" stuff BTW). Seems like they started to make this a special area, but didn't finish it or something...

Hello
I just cleared it out on my own (edit: my party member logged out after two failed attempts to storm the charrs) - it's taken me about 7 hours. 3:30am here in england, just checking that there wasn't supposed to be some amazing ending before going to bed.
If you are intent on clearing out the Northlands take loads of salvage kit, otherwise, like me, you will be leaving tons of valuable salvage behind!.
The only decent items I got were two 8-13 longbows, oh, and I got myself to level 10.
Time to advance to the post-apocalytpic world (tomorrow/later).
Nightie-night
Cheers

I and Infyrno Burinator killed them all and have a screeny to prove it. It took us about 2 hours to figure out how to do it. The 3 bosses at the end didnt drop anything great (big let down), but i did get a 9-14 bow from one of their underlings.

the bosses are simple really, they are very stupid, just shoot one with a bow and it will usually run after you, thats the best way to kill them, i havent got those patrols in the back killed yet but i have run past them before, there is nothing back there, good drops though, i have gotten two runes and a magic staff piece from there, i will post a screenshot of the dead bosses when i figure out how to put pics on here...

I partnered with an elementalist once who showed me how to lure 2-3 char out of the roving bands but I must have sucked as she didn't want to try them all. Last night I took my lv7 W/R in with another W/R (ironically I didn't know until we had left the town lol) and managed to sneak to the alter and kill some of the wing men. Sadly his critter got killed next to the later so it died every time it was res'd lol.

My son, as a lvl 9 war/nec, and I, as a lvl 8 mo/rang with stalker, were able to clear the charr yards completely of all baddies in about an hour without using the resurrect shrine or npc monk through use of bait & slaughter tactics, and died/resurrected about a dozen times in the process. There were many nice drops, plenty of experience gained, nice areas to expose on the map, but nothing of any consequense accomplished for the game. A good primer for crossing over to post-sear Tyria.

I got a dedicated Warrior/Monk to stay in pre-sear (just for fun and showoff).
I'm already lvl 9, and will get higher. I actually purpusefully did NO QUESTS WHATSOEVER apart from bare nessecity ones (like the 2nd profession quest and over the wall quest), so once I hit like lvl 10 or 11, and leveling further is very slow or impossible, I'll just do all the quests and get another 1 or 2 levels out of it. Can you imagine a lvl 13 guy in pre-sear ascalon?
Together with a partner we went and killed lotsa charr. What's funny is that he had to leave just before we got to bosses, and I actually managed to kill them all on my own. It's just about luring the main boss (bloodbane) out of the reach of others and fighting him long and hard till he dies. At that point he isn't dangerous since he keeps healing himself, which is an area heal spell and actually heals me as well. But managing to hit him faster then he heals was VERY tough. I ended up moving all my healing spells to smiting spells to do that one extra bit of damage, and eventually outtricked him (waited till all my spells are full, waited till he tried to heal (he was at half health at the time), intercepted his healing with hammer bash, cast symbol of wrath, intercepted SECOND healing attempt with bane signet, and finally nailed him with a good hammer hit).
Once bane is dead, killing others was piece of cake.
I explored most of places in northlands, but there's a few still left to go, where teams of charr that wouldnt leave their spot stopped me (can't fight a team of 6 charr on my own if they don't chase).
Here's a map of how far I went:
http://img121.echo.cx/img121/4625/northlands0sz.jpg
Points A to C are chokepoints at which I got stuck. I wonder what's behind them. If anyone went through, please share. I'd especially like to know if it's possible to open the closed door at B, and if there are any cities or bosses or other interesting things further north from A.
